It's basically getting your lashes done who did not do your previous set. While most places turn down these clients or require a full removal and full set, here at Artistry Of Lashes we are open to this service.
Here are a few reasons why most places don’t offer this service:
Not everyone is a licensed/ certified lash tech therefore not all work is up to standard. This can make a fill become very stressful and sometimes time consuming.
Styling/ mapping. There are actually many styles that you can achieve from lash extensions including wispy/ strip lash effect, doll eye, and cat eye. Achieving these looks can be difficult if your set is the complete opposite.
Mixing lashes. Not all lashes are made of the same qualities and even curls. Being able to blend curls, lengths, and different materials (silk vs mink, etc) requires a lot of skill. Also, other things to take into account is the glue that was being used as this can affect retention and other things. For example, we’ve had a client who’s previous lash tech used a low quality glue that caused burning. Thankfully, we had the tools to subside this issue but not all lash techs have the materials and experience to handle this situation.

Yes you can! After the initial dry period you can swim with lashes. We encourage cleaning of the lashes at least 3 times a week with our Eco-Sensitive Lash cleanser for retail in our salon. You can also surf & swim in the ocean with lashes.
It all depends how well you take care of them at home and how quickly your natural lashes shed. But normally the lashes last anywhere from 2-4 weeks as full set. But can last up to 8 weeks but not as a full set. We recommend getting infills every 2-3 weeks to maintain the set you have.
Yes! We encourage you to relax and have a little nap during the lash application. After all beauty sleep is the best sleep to get!
Yes! That is fine! as long as you use saline solution after the lash application. Anything else can dilute the lash glue making the lashes not last as long.
To be classified as an infill you have to have 40% of your extensions remaining. After the 4 weeks the extensions are mostly grown out and will get twisted. So despite having some lashes remaining which is great! It will be a new set.
We have street parking available. Some times in Summer you may need to do a few laps around the block to find a park. This is normal as it is Cronulla after all. But generally our clients can find a park out the front of the salon. On weekends and hot summer days, please allow extra time to find a park. We are also conveniently located right by a bus and train station.
No, please don’t wear mascara. You may want too - but it will only clump and defeat the purpose of getting lash extensions. Mascara can also dilute the glue causing the lash to not last as long.
It all depends on what set you get. The thicker the set you book in for the longer it will take. But normally for a ‘natural’ full set is approximately 60mins. A Half set can take from 30-45mins. If you are after more of a fuller look these can take from 1-3+hrs. Basically the longer the lash session the thicker the lashes will be.
We do! on our instagram @artistryoflashes - and also here on our website. Please keep in mind that lashes look different on each person due to the amount of natural lashes they have and face and eye shapes.
As it is a very specialised and difficult service that requires quite a bit of concentration we would prefer no children or babies come along with you. Your eyes will be closed and we are working to a time limit so having to continuously stop to check on your children will cut into your appointment time. If you have no other options but to bring your children then please ensure they are well behaved and not coming over and bumping the bed where we will be lashing you as this is a safety hazard as well and please advise us if so. Thank you for understanding.
yes - this is to ensure any debris from dust, makeup and oils are removed. A healthy and clean lash line is very important to maintain as this also avoids any premature lash loss - lash extensions won't bond to dirty lashes.
Don’t be nervous at all! It’s so relaxing and you won't feel a thing. We play relaxing music and you will be comfortable laying with or without a blanket (it's up to you) in our hygienic salon. We encourage you to relax and take a little nap. There is nothing to be nervous about. We are professional and caring.
Firstly and most importantly, for most people – is lash retention. Where lashes have been exposed to a lot of oil (whether from naturally occuring
oils in the skin, or products that contain oil, such as micellar water, non-oil free makeup remover, waterproof makeup and other skin care)
they generally won’t last very well. This is especially the case if oil is not cleaned off regularly using a foam cleanser, as eventually it will start
to degrade the adhesive bonds, resulting in poor lash retention. Clean lashes do last longer!
Secondly lash health (which can affect lash retention also) when skin cells, makeup and oil/sebum are allowed to build up on the lash line,
some interesting little creatures called Demodex (lash mites) will have a giant party, which can lead to irritated lash lines, blocked follicles and lash loss.
So clean those peepers and make sure your lash line is not a veritable feast for lash mites!
Thirdly comfort -Lashes that are not cleaned properly (skin, sebum, oil and sleep will build up)get itchy!
Lash extensions are supposed to feel like nothing so if your lash line is feeling a little itchy and irritated, better after care may be in order.
Giving your lashes a good clean every day will make them feel much lighter on.
We have our aftercare products in our studio, our eco sensitive oil foam cleanser which also removes makeup.
Allergic reactions tend to happen within the first three days (72 hours) of lash application, but always take note of:
swollen eyelids – if you see any swelling in your lids or eye area after getting lash extensions, you should speak with your doctor
itchiness redness.
If you’re experiencing these symptoms for more than a few hours or they seem to be worsening, you should consider speaking with a qualified healthcare professional.
You can also call your lash technician and explain your symptoms; if you’re experiencing an allergic reaction, you’ll need to remove your extensions as soon as possible.
However, it’s possible your eyes might simply be irritated, either because of your extensions or some other factor.
Irritation is often confused with an allergic reaction, but irritation is more common – and, unlike allergies, it’s often preventable.
Lash extensions can irritate your eyes if the lashes are placed too close to the skin fumes from the glue, especially if the eye isn’t properly closed during application
rubbing of eyepads on skin or eye
If you’re having an allergic reaction, symptoms tend to worsen until the lashes are removed. If it’s just irritation, the symptoms will likely subside over the next 24-48 hour
Lash extensions should not be uncomfortable or sore at all. Sometimes there may be a little stinging from the adhesive fumes, the eyepad riding up into the eye or other temporary,
occasional annoyances, but they should never cause pain.
Here’s what to do if you’ve noticed discomfort or pain:
Speak with a healthcare professional as soon as you notice redness, swelling or itchiness of the eye area. You should also contact your lash technician, especially since an allergic reaction will usually require prompt removal.
Take note if the symptoms are getting worse or subsiding.
If the symptoms are getting worse, remove the extensions as soon as possible. If your regular technician isn’t available, go somewhere else to get them off as soon as you can.
Even if your eyes are just temporarily irritated, make sure to inform your technician anyway; they may need to adjust your application process to avoid future irritation.
If the lashes are uncomfortable or you can feel them poking into your skin, pulling or anything else, they may just be bad lash extensions. In that case, they’ll probably need to be removed to prevent damaging your natural lashes.
Allergies can’t be prevented but irritation can be, and lash technicians generally take steps to lower your risk of irritation.
But there are also things you can do to lower the risk yourself. Shortly after application, it’s possible for the glue to cause a stinging or burning sensation if your extensions get wet. Avoid swimming and lots of steam in the 24 hours after getting your extensions –
if you really need a long hot steamy shower, then consider wearing swimming goggles.
You should also try to avoid crying in that 24-hour period.
We love lash extensions but not at the expense of your health. Allergic reactions to lash extensions tend to come from an allergy to the base ingredient in most extension adhesives (cyanoacrylate)
not from the extensions themselves and this ingredient is in most of the lash adhesives, so it’s unlikely you’d be able to continue getting extensions.
Ultimately, this answer depends on the allergy itself, so you’ll need advice from a medical professional to figure out what’s safe for you.
Depending on what your doctor says, you may be able to try alternatives to lash extensions, like lash tinting or lash lifts. We’re happy to talk through options with you.
